First Texas Olive Oil
Company presses fresh Extra Virgin olive oil in our frantoio (the
Italian word for olive press). This pressing facility is located on the
Ranch, next to the olive orchard. We use modern, Italian oil processing
equipment (an Oliomio Mdl 60 olive oil press) that is especially designed
to extract substantial volumes of the highest quality Extra Virgin oil
by the "cold press" method.
Historically, olive oil has been attributed
as a source of health benefits including the improvement of skin condition,
help in the aging process, and improvement in metabolic balance and the circulatory
system. Research today indeed supports these original claims made by Hippocrates,
Galen, Dioscorides and Diocles. Modern studies have shown that olive oil
contains poylphenols and fatty acids (HDL's) which have a beneficial effect
on serum cholesterol.
But what really motivated us to create
First Texas Olive Oil? We think olive oil makes good food taste GREAT!
We pressed Bella Vista's first olive crop on September 24, 2001, and
have continued this pioneering effort by pressing olives each year since! We provide guided tours to the
public during our pressing season to give you close up and
hands-on-experience. Check back at this site for the dates and times of
our Annual Olive Oil Pressing. (Usually Sept/Oct timeframe.)

Fresh
